Who doesn't love a splash pad? My son! Let me correct that, he loves splash pads, he just doesn't love the cold water at the splash pads! The small wading pool has been replaced with this fun and refreshing splash pad. This is a great improvement on the park amenities, since I remember the pool always been shut down because someone always had "an accident" in the water, and it would have to be drained! My own nephew was responsible for one of these "accidents" once! Ahh, the joys of bringing children to public pools!
| Make sure you bring some bird seeds with you when you come to the park, so you can feed the ducks. Of course our little jealous dog couldn't let the ducks have all the food so he just jumped in! There are benches and beautiful rocks scattered along the edges of the water so you can leisurely watch the ducks or feed them. It's not unusual to see people on their lunch breaks eating their lunches along the water's edge. |
| The park is filled with BEAUTIFUL flowers. There is a beautiful path you can walk along that begins at the Green House, and wraps around the front area of the park. You can also get married at the park, as there is a wedding chapel. I took my wedding photos at the park. Our Toronto-based photographer loved this location. Our photos turned out great. If you like people-watching, come to the park on a Saturday afternoon, and watch the bridal parties coming through the gardens. It's interesting to see brides of every culture in their beautiful gowns posing for what will certainly be breath-taking photos. | You can't come to Chinguacousy Park and not visit the barn and petting farm. Little kids and Big Kids will have a blast. The pony rides are not only fun for the kids, but informative too. The handlers teach the children about how to care for the animals. |
Chinguacousy Park is a great place for kids. MiniMoo Farm is a great place to spend the afternoon. You can pet the farm animals for the low low price of $1.00 per child. I personally love goats, I think they're so cute. The goats in the petting area are so friendly...NOW. Years ago, we had relatives visiting from Europe, so we took to them to the park, and of course, the petting area. One of the goats nipped my niece while she was trying to feed him! She was fine, and it turns out she was probably petting him a little too much for his liking! The donkeys are great too! Have you ever seen a donkey smile? I have... at Chinguacousy Park! It was the funniest sight! The donkey kept following us and smiling. I think he liked all the attention he was getting. Let me tell you, the photos of the kids with the smiling donkey are some of my favorites. |
Chinguacousy Park has so much to offer, and this post has only highlighted the aspects of the park that I tend to make use of. If my husband was writing this blog, he would have told you about the Beach Volleyball courts and the league that plays there, the Skate Park, Mount Chinguacousy (that'll come this winter, I'll blog about it, I swear!), the sports fields, the tennis courts, etc... If my son was writing this blog, he'd tell you all about the choo choo train that takes you around the park, the kids play area, and the miniputt. You just have to come to Chinguacousy Park, there's something for everyone!
